I have been trying to get into the Halloween spirit lately and found a super cute recipe for Candy Corn Cupcakes . I do not normally undertake baking endeavors, but it was actually kind of fun.
However, by the time I finally finished making the cupcakes and the icing… I was totally uninterested in putting the two together. Luckily, Joey volunteered to ice most of them. :) The cupcakes themselves were supposed to resemble candy corn and the first layer was yellow, the next layer was orange, and the icing was white.
You can see the layers in this picture (courtesy of Our Best Bites). We didn’t have the fancy star tip to make the icing look as good as this picture, but it didn’t really matter because they still tasted good! Yay Halloween!
Last weekend we ended up going to Big Basin Redwoods State Park. It was sort of a long drive and it felt longer since the roads were narrow and winding. However, it was totally worth it!
We hiked for a couple hours and enjoyed the peacefulness of the forest. It was definitely a fun day trip!

Nice Baking!!
Wow…. Huge trees !!! Tasty looking cupcakes
We still have to solve the mystery of the melting candy corn… possibly the icing was too intense?
Hiking! Great!
Your cupcakes totally look awesome, I want to eat one!! I am sure they were a lot of work with all those layers, thanks for icing them Joey
Love the picture of you Shannon by the Redwood tree – WOW – Hope I get to see them in person some day…
